Guest guest
Hey all: I have been squeaking by w/out my occasional daycare provider asking me about vaccines. When my daughter was little I did a slower, first-year schedule (stupid); so I had the proof of vaccs. I wised up and I haven't done any since the 12-mo vaccs... She's 3-years-old now and my husband finally found a job and we need to start her back to daycare - Monday! I called the lady and she said she needed an updated vaccine list. I explained that I don't intend to vaccinate and that I am using one of the exemptions allowed in WA State. She is an older lady that doesn't probably truly understand WHY I wouldn't want to vacc and she was also audited by the State last year and found to be deficient in a few of the required forms, so she is a stickler now. The National Vaccine Network says WA State is just a form that I sign, claiming my exemption. The WA Dept of Health site lists the new legislation from 7/2011, requiring your doctor to sign the exemption. I called the doctor and luckily got an appt. for Monday a.m. and explained why I was coming in. So, sorry for the length, but here is the question finally - Can the daycare lady refuse us? She is licensed by the State and all that jazz. I just love this lady...she is the 3rd daycare I have taken my daughter to - the other 2 didn't do the things I asked.
