Welcome, Heidi! I don't think your son is at more risk of anything if your family members got the TDap vaccine. It's not a live vaccine. And you're right, he does get a lot of protection from breastfeeding. I exclusively nursed my last three for a full year, and then continued to nurse for a few years after that.

On the autoimmune disease/vaccine connection, I read an explanation on that years ago in article by Dr. Moskowitz. He said that due to the way a vaccine enters our body, our immune system doesn't know how to get rid of the toxins from it, so it attacks the cells they are in. Hence, autoimmune--attacking self. If you google him, maybe you can find that article or something else written by him.
