Hey Everyone, I am Sorry for the cross post, but this is urgent. Another frustrating day at the California State Capitol yesterday. AB 2109, the bill that would limit a parents access to Personal Belief Exemptions passed the Appropriations Committee. It had already passed the Health Committee in late April. We (Canary Party and NVIC members) have been visiting, calling and e-mailing our Assemblymembers, and have gained the support of the Republicans. The Democrats are waving the "Greater Good" "Public Health" flags and are pushing this through since they have the majority. But at yesterdays hearing, there was one Democrat that seemed to have some questions about the fairness of this bill. One of his questions was the fairness of forcing families to see doctors.He is Assemblyperson Mike Gatto (D) Burbank: http://asmdc.org/members/a43/47th-district-map/43-district-map He ended up voting yes along with his party, but he may be someone open to hearing the facts. PLEASE, if anyone lives in his district, please call him (or even better, visit in person) and express your feelings about AB 2109! This bill would force parents to obtain the signature of a Medical Practitioner (M.D., D.O. Nurse Practitioner, or P.A. under a supervising M.D.) stating that they have counseled you about the risks and benefits of vaccines before you can use your Personal Belief Exemption Rights. IF THEY DON'T SIGN OFF, YOU CAN'T USE YOUR EXEMPTION RIGHTS! This law was created to make it harder for parents to exercise their rights. Doctors routinely harrass and bully parents who question any part of the vaccine schedule, with many doctors kicking families out of their practice for "non-compliance". Now these same doctors will hold the ultimate power over YOUR rights. Please contact me if you want more info or would like to help to defeat this bill. We need everyone in on this effort.
