Guest guest
, I saw someone on TV with CMT that had gastric bypass. She said it helped her. 50 pounds is not that much to lose. Can you do it on your own? It seems like it would be easier now that you have had your ankle surgery. I have about 20 pounds to lose. Guest guest
, Realize that this is not personal experience, but a few suggestions. I would definitely get a 2nd opinion from another doc. Maybe even a 3rd. It seems that with a combined program of weight loss/exercise/nutritional changes that you would be able to loose 2 and 1/2 lbs a week fairly easily. About 8 or 10 years ago I did just this and lost 25 this way. I did it the 'one day at a time' way; I also had a medically appropriated diet and vitamin supplementation. There is a FREE group - very popular, here's the link http://www.overeatersanonymous.org/ you might want to investigate this group and find meetings near you. Success is an inside job. Doctors are always looking out for the $ aspect. , if I can stay sober for 25 years in a 12 step program, I have every confidence you CAN loose weight and learn how to keep it off in a 12 step program. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
: I don't know how this surgery would effect CMT but I have a sister-in-law (without CMT) who had it done about a year ago. Yes, she has lost a lot of weight and looking good on the outside, but she has had so many complications and there is so much the doctor's don;t tell you before surgery it isn't funny! She has had a hernia from the surgery that to this day is not completely healed yet. The doctor finally admitted to her that they don't know why it won't heal. She still can't eat regular meals yet, still drinks protien drinks can't digest a lot of food without throwing up. I would highly suggest really researching this subject and really checking credentials of the doctors in your area. My sister-in-law needed to lose over 300 lbs. I had a friend in college who died on the operating table during this surgery. I would never consider this surgery for just 50 lbs.
