Guest guest
Hi! I've been a member of this group for along time and love the reassurance and support it has provided me. I have three children ages 16m - 9y and they have never been vaccinated. Very infrequently something comes along that causes me to need a reminder. I tried to use the group search but the results are a bit overwhelming, so I apologize in advance for bringing up something I'm sure has been discussed exhaustively. So, I was casually talking to a like-minded mum the other day and she brought up vaccines. She doesn't do them, generally, but once her children are a bit older she does tetanus and meningitis. She told me that she is close to a couple of families who didn't vaccinate for meningitis and had kids who ended up very sick with it, needing skull surgery, etc I'm here looking for a reminder as to why I don't vaccinate for meningitis, please!! Guest guest
You can do what ever vaccines you care to do.The meningitis vaccine protects against just two of the hundreds of bacteria that can cause meningitis. There are also viral meningitis and fungal meningitis that the vaccine will NOT protect against. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/mening/default.htmThere was an outbreak late last year of meningitis in two fully vaccinated young adults at a Pennsylvania University. Neither were ever near each other. http://live.psu.edu/story/38666http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/11/21/second-meningitis-case-reported-at-pennsylvania-college/Of course, even though both students were fully vaxed against meningitis, the media takes the opportunity to push the vaccine on everyone even though it did not protect these students. ~ Maureen R. Guest guest
HI! Well #1 - vaccines do NOT give immunity - so if they don't work, why get them And it is very very rare to see meningitis in anyone and even far more rare to see it in an unvaccinated child I have much more fear of the vaccines than meningitis. Remember - vaccines do NOT give immunity. They use titers as proof that the vaccine works and they do NOT mean immunity, after a vaccine. Guest guest
I know that. I totally agree with that. I just try to use the points that we may agree on and show how if vaxes even worked the way they are supposed to, they are totally worthless. -- You are completely correct, Sheri. ~ Maureen R. Guest guest
IN my lifetime experience of resisting vaccines, I have found that tetanus is the often the very last vaccine that people give up on. Interestingly enough, tetanus is not communicable and immunity to it lasts a lifetime w/o a vaccine. ~ Maureen R. Guest guest
Because vaccines don't work. Worse, every vaccine has the potential to cause injury or death. You don't want to deliberately cause that in your child. My kids, along with my whole family growing up, same for my husband and all of our friends--none of them had the meningitis vaccine and none of us got meningitis. Did those families you know give other vaccines? Winnie Meningitis"vaccinations " > Hi!> > I've been a member of this group for along time and love the > reassurance and support it has provided me. Guest guest
what i've learned is that tetanus vax is worthless because you could get it even if you alredy had had it and vaxxes are being marketed to supposedly protect against only communicable diseases. will Lainaus maureen gradvohl <mrsvoltaire@...>: > IN my lifetime experience of resisting vaccines, I have found that > tetanus is the often the very last vaccine that people give up on. > Interestingly enough, tetanus is not communicable and immunity to it > lasts a lifetime w/o a vaccine.
