Guest guest
Hello Everyone: Here is my question, I know it will seem absolutely crazy and in my gut (no pun intended) I feel that it is definitely not something to consider but my doctor threw the idea on the table and now I'm starting to really doubt his credentials. I had the appliances taken out of my ankle last week and a bone biopsy. After the surgery the dr talked to my husband about my chances of success with another ankle fusion. One concern is my weight. Since I have been inactive for the last 2 1/2 years I'm about 50 lbs overweight. He talked to my husband about what methods of weight loss I have tried and my lack of success. Then he said I needed a " way out " on the weight issue and that maybe I should consider gastric bypass. When my husband told me about this conversation a few days later my first reactions were (1) Why did he talk to you instead of me about this, and (2) is he crazy? I have CMT which means I need a really healthy diet as it is!! Of course, I also know it is vital to the success of the surgery that I take the weight off my legs. So here I am. Does anyone have anything to relate about this procedure and its effects on CMT? I guess I'm just looking for some backup on my feelings about it. My husband thinks it must be safe if the dr recommended it. I think he's being naive. I will look forward to hearing from some of you on this.
