Hi There...I joined the group recently and wanted to introduce myself. I have a

12 week old baby boy and a 9 year old step daughter. I also have Rheumatoid

Arthritis. I was diagnosed with RA shortly after my beloved dad died of

esophageal cancer at age 66. My son is named after him. I had been crazed over

his illness and wanted answers and ended up finding the Weston Price Foundation.

This came in handy for my RA diagnosis as I was able to wean off the scary RA

drugs with the help of a holistic doc who is part of Weston Price and conceived

my son via IVF at age 41. I started getting worried about all the vaccines

during the end of my pregnancy and started researching. We refused all the

vaccines at his 2 month appt so we could research more. However while I was

pregnant we asked close family to get TDap as our doc recommended. Now that I am

researching this more I feel badly about it and I also worry that it has the

opposite effect of keeping the baby safe and in fact puts him at more risk. Can

anyone explain the connection between autoimmune diseases and vaccines? I have

in fact had vaccines since my diagnosis and it seems like that was a huge

mistake. It is also my understanding that the baby of a mom with an autoimmune

disease is more likely to have a reaction to a vaccine. We are washing hands and

keeping him away from anyone who is sick. I also exclusively breast feed which I

know he gets a good deal of protection from. We are traveling cross country the

end of the month and of course I'm a little afraid of being trapped on a plane

near a sick person. It's so great this group exists as its hard to swim against

the tide and deal with all the scare tactics especially in relation to a little

baby.

Best, Heidi
