Guest guest
Dear , Like Owen has said you can get work on mine sites and offshore through St s Northern Territory, they are the one's who have the current contract to supply " Medics " . You can send off to then to get RPL and then get tested on their protocols to gain employment or have you considered sending in your quals to Sturt University in Bathurst NSW to gain RPL for the Bachelor of Paramedical Science or the double Degree in Health Science Pre-Hospital Care & Nursing? Just some thoughts so you can get a nationally or internationally recognised qual. I'm ex RAAMC and I did something simular and I am currently employed as an Intensive Care Paramedic for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. I'm currently based 440km southwest of Alice Springs in a place called Yulara. Good Luck. Kaz Hello Hi there!! Thankyou for allowing me to become a member of your forum. I am an ex Royal Australian Navy Underwater or Hyperbaric medic with ten years experience involving dive teams, ships, submarines and the Submarine Escape Tower (similar to HMS Dolphin in the UK). Currently I am doing contract relief work in Western Australian mining operations. I am looking to break into the offshore or remote medic area of employment. I am OPITO TBOSIET current, class one medically fit and have industrial paramedic and emergency driving quals as well as numerous military ones. I am interested to hear from you guys doing the job right now and to get experience in the industry. All help is appreciated, and I look forward to chatting with you all sometime soon. Guest guest
Thanks Kaz, I have attained the St s Industrial Paramedic and Emergency Response wualifications when I did a skills test last year. I have looked into the pre-hospital degree program and it looks quite good. I think the RAAMC UM's got a better deal with the credits issue even though we all did the same course. That is more of a display of the navy training recognition skills. I am heading overseas at the end of the year so the degree will have to wait. I will look up St 's in the NT and see what they have to offer. Thanks very much, your help is appreciated. To Owen, Thanks mate. Hopefully see you back up at Nifty one day. Definately enjoyed my time. --------------------------------- Find local movie times and trailers on Movies.
Guest guest
hi keren! im 23 with CP. from what i know mostly women get it when we go through growth spurts when were young and the cartilage softens, then being active doesn't help. did your knee(s) go out a lot when you were young? that how i got it. im also in a lot of pain all the time . i work a very demanding retail job, which doesnt really compare to the army at all, but it's all bad for us. my doctor told me that if i was older (much older) he would tell me to stay off my feet altogether, but thats not possible. its a very hard disorder or whatever you wanna call it to deal with and be on your feet. with me atleast, everytime i bend i aggrivate it. also everytime i go on a ladder i put 3x my body weight on the knee, also aggrivating it. i take 375mg of naprosyn 2x a day, for the inflamation and for the pain, but it doesnt do much. my OS is still trying to find the root of the pain. it would be grat to get something stronger, but then you run the risk of addiction. well, i hope that helps! iris

" Minor " is relative. They should rate CP according to the pain level you are at. The pain is what rules your quality of life with CP. Guest guest
Look up knee taping instructions that I posted here last year. It's in the archives. I lost it off my computer. Also I don't know how to use the archives. Try that. If you have chondromalacia and it hurts, you're just making it worse (wearing off more cartilage) by continuing with your activities. Thanks to knee tape I can use the treadmill & Stairmaster. Ann hello Hi All I am new to this group so i will give a little introduction. My name is I live in Central IL. I am 38 (till tomorrow lol). I was first dx with Chondromalacia after a car accident which i dont think it had anything to do with the condtion just think it finally got me to go to the dr 3 years ago at that time i had stage 1. I went with no real problems untill Nov 2005 then my knee started hurting again so went back to a dr and found out i was stage 3 (i think). Was in pt and got released from that. Been doing my exersizes every since then about 2 weeks ago my knee started hurting again (have not done anything to hurt it). So right now i am just living with the pain hoping that it goes away again. my question for all of you is walking on it a good idea when it is hurting so bad I have had 2 different drs tell me different things so just wondering what you all do. I am calling the dr tomorrow if the pain is not better to make a appointment but really hate to go just to be told to do pt which i am doing at home already. Does anyone know of any dr that specialize in this condtion in the central IL area I dont have a problem with travling a little bit if i can find a dr that treats this. Guest guest
Hi Jean: Welcome to the Group. You've come to the right place... Lots of informed people here who are going through the same thing as you. Walking, in my opinion, is a good idea, as long as it isn't very painful. A little bit of pain is alright. We, as a Group, have informally come to agree that anything around 3-4 on a 10-point pain scale is probably alright. Anything above that and perhaps you are doing more damage than good. Of course, none of us are doctors... Since you're in Illinois, I'd try to go and see Dr. Ross Hauser at Caring Medical. He's outside Chicago in Oak Park (I'm guessing 100 miles or so each way), but I think it might be worth your time and effort. Nina in this group just went to see him and had great results (see Post #9777 for a description). I've never been to see him, so I can't personally vouch for him, but I have read a few of his books and he makes alot of sense. http://www.caringmedical.com/ In the meantime, take things very slowly and always try the most conservative things first. Take care of yourself, exercise as much as you can (even if it is only upper-body), get plenty of sleep, eat right, etc. It couldn't hurt and it may help. Keep asking questions. And have a Happy Birthday! Take care, Doug > > Hi All I am new to this group so i will give a little introduction. My > name is I live in Central IL. I am 38 (till tomorrow lol). Guest guest
Now that you mention that, I have a ton of scars and the scar cream works okay but I have this one that goes up beyond the surface of my skin and I was wondering if maybe I can get some ideas about how to get rid of these type of scars. Guest guest
Before I got the Go on getting a TKR, I could only get exercise every other day, using tape. Now I'm getting even more exercise every other day NOT using tape. Part of my desire to get a whole new knee was the PITA of using tape every day. So now it turns out tape makes no difference (for me)???? However, my menisci are falling apart, and my chondromalacia IS grade IV, or was in 2004 when a different surgeon was in there, and I'm sure it hasn't gotten better (although the MRI says III -- of course, as we all know, MRIs don't always show what's really in there -- but what if he gets in there & it's actually grade III. That would mean the chondroitin & glucosamine had restored some cartilage. Even so, the menisci are falling apart, so I'm going to do it).
