Everyone here is very nice and helpful too. I have always been as natural as posible. Still, I am always learning Whenever I learned a better/more organic process in gardening, crafting, soaping... I would do it. I too have family health issues. With us it is Marfan (or Ehler's Danlos - they are similar disorders) Syndrome for me and my 3 kids. Guest guest
Hi Carmellyn, There's nothing to be scared about. Everything that you make, of course, some relevant care has to be taken and that applies to kefir making as well. So, you must go ahead and take the benefits of this great gift from God. You can procure quality milk kefir grains from Marilyn Kefirlady. Alternatively, for both the types of grains you may access Dom's site, Toronto Advisors site or www.eBay.com. To buy anything at eBay you have to first get there registered which is free. I have been making both the types of kefir for the last six months and had no problem at all. I also share my spare grains. Presently, I don't have surplus MKG. However, I've ample surplus healthy WKG to share with anyone. As a matter of fact, I have been sending my spare dehydrated WKG to worldwide destinations. If interested in my WKG you're welcome to contact me offline on my email address. Guest guest
Hello, By the grace of God I managed to pass ore1 (sept 2011) in the first attempt itself. I thought I would share a few tips which will help others crack the exam. I guess by now many must have already posted the questions that appeared for the exam, do go through them as they may be of use to you. I wrote IELTS during the last week of April, in the month of May I put in an application to write ORE which got approved after much delay. In short I began preparing for the exam mid June. So I got 2.5 months to prepare for the exam. I had a study partner and we used to discuss topics every Sunday. This kept us motivated!! The key to clearing ORE is to study smart and understand our limitations. Use feedbacks as a guide only. I would not suggest that you rely completely on them. While you’re going through feedbacks, make a list of important topics that seem to be appearing frequently. These topics must be read and revised thoroughly .Revise the same, the day before the exam. Even though statistics is an important topic, I did not bother doing it because I knew those numbers would not stay in my head! Instead that time was used to study something more productive. To start off, I would suggest you spend the first week of your study in refreshing your memory. This is especially useful for those who have taken a small break from dentistry due to varied reasons. Flip through the texts that you used when you graduated from dental school. This will help remember many things you have learnt in the past. Using the same texts that you have read before is useful. Don’t read them in great detail, or you will be wasting time. Sometimes just pictures or diagrams will do the job. After doing that chalk out a time table, giving yourself targets to finish. (I did it subject wise) Enjoy studying; don’t consider it as a burden as all this is only going to make you a better dentist! Here are a few topics that I consider as ‘must know ‘topics. They may not be exhaustive but is worthwhile revising them just before the exam Sterilization and disinfection Medical emergencies/ anaphylaxis Hypersensitivity- All Ig’s are imp Fluorides (amt in water/toothpaste/varnish etc and their benefits) Radiation protection (incl. laws) Indications for different views(e.g. bitewings/ opg etc) Respiratory alkalosis/acidosis Blood (values, disorders) Crohn’s disease Coeliac disease Angina and MI Cardiac cycle Bisphosphonates Common drug interactions Materials used for pulpotomy /pulpectomy Cleidocranial dysplasia Avulsed tooth – medium /management IOTN Lower anterior partial denture Bridges- planning and design Pemphigus/ pemphygoid/lichen planus Apical periodontitis/ periodontal abscess Salivary gland tumours Sjogren syndrome( primary and secondary) Herpes Drugs- antiviral/ antibiotic/analgesics Trigeminal neuralgia Law and ethics( pink book, master dentistry) Waste disposal LA doses NICE guidelines Try to finish the questions after each chapter in master dentistry For details on drugs refer BNF For practice (a must)- MCQ for dentistry and SAQ for dentistry by Kathleen Fan Clinical problem solving in dentistry – is useful but not an absolute must Pink book, blue book, Churchill- should have I must confess that God has been kind to me because without his grace I wouldn’t have made it (prayer does work! At least for me). Key ingredients for success Prayer Family support Hard work Good health Optimistic approach to life. Anyway all the best for your exams and hope this was of some use to you. cheers
