Guest guest
Hello, It is true that I do not know more that your doctor knows. But there is a warning about Zoloft from CMTA on their list of harmful drugs for patients with CMT. There are a multitude of anti depression medications that may outperform Zoloft. Talk to your doctor to change it for you. Remember when taking antidepressants that there are sexual side effects and there are medication to counter that side effect (It has something to do with a gland in your brain). Take good care:-) Nidal Re: CMT Foot Pain I have these foot symptoms. I also take 1800 neurontin daily boosted by Zoloft. Total relief is non existent for me. Guest guest
I wrote about zoloft and I take a minimum dose under a neurologist supervision it alone doesn't help my pain it just enhances the neurontin. no other antidepressants worked on me. this is just what I use and is not meant to be advice for everyone to use. Guest guest
I have a list of unexplainable foot pain that I have had. I usually figure it out. Once I had a splinter that I could see or feel until it was infected. Sometimes my shoes are tied to tight or my blankets are tucked in to tight. Sometimes its an easy fix . Guest guest
Hi: I also take an anti-depressant - Amitriptyline (Elavil) in conjunction with Neurontin under the supervision of my neurologist for CMT pain and the burning sensation on the top of my feet. I take it at night only. It does work for me, but it may not work for everyone. Amitriptyline also works to help me sleep at night. One caution with any anti-depressant is a dry mouth. My dentist prescribed Salagen (5 mg.) twice a day to help combat dry mouth, and to keep decay at a minimum. It also works for me. As with any meds. we need to be careful with side-effects. We all need good doctors and pharmacists. Regards, Beckingham Corporate Nice Guy
Guest guest
Hello Cathleen, Zoloft is not good even in small dosages. If you do not believe me, go to the CMTA site and check it out yourself. Zoloft is anti depressant and is a derivative of Prozac like drug and has nothing to do with neurontin. I would ask another doctor and take the CMTA print out with me to the office:-) Nidal ****NOTE from the Moderator....CMTA states Zoloft can now be used with caution. There is a drug interaction warning listing as well on the website. Guest guest
Hello, In my opinion, it is the Amitriptyline (Elavil) in conjunction with Neurontin that is working for you. It is not the magnets. The band that holds the magnets might apply pressure that relieves a little bit of your pain the rest is in your mind and how you imagine it and has nothing do with magnetism. That is why we invented a placebo for blind studies of drugs in order to rule out the power of the mind. What I mean by scientific, I mean at least unbiased double blind clinical study where the physician does not know which drug he is administering and the patient does not know if he/she is taking a placebo or the actual drug. If you find that people are getting pain relief then it works otherwise, it does not. With this day and age there are a lot of gizmos and gimmicks and a lot of people trying to get rich quick with no ethics or morality. Evangelists, healer, and the list goes on The only filter is science since science is knowledge and knowledge is power. This is why you are using the internet and reading this email? Guest guest
actually I joined this group to share information with others. I like learning from others. I did not join this group to be lectured for sharing my experiences with others. If elavil works for you great it never worked for me at all alone or with the neurontin. I assure you I will never share my experiences again in this group. I will look and read what others have to say. I never expected such a problem sharing with others. Sorry I wrote in such a contraversial experience. Scientist and Doctors don't know everything or else it would not have taken 40 years to figure out what I have. I'll be reading the email but don't worry I won't bother sharing again. Cathleen in Arkansas
Guest guest
To Rmblinrose83@... Thanks for your info on the magnets I still plan to get one and try it on my ankle and maybe two or three who knows, I have posted before regarding how I feel about flaming remarks to another member, maybe our moderator will start deleting those comments, I appreciate your answers and we all should try different things if we feel like it especially something as inexpensive as a couple of bracelets comapred to the cost of a script. Just ignore the comments and move along. Hang in there. Gene
