The CDC also says no fatalities have been reported. This is clearly a case of vaccine failure, not the result of unvaccinated individuals spreading pertussis. The pertussis vaccine is not bactericidal. In other words, the vaccinated can spread pertussis. A Washington state vaccinated hospital worker is blamed for exposing patients to pertussis.
