Guest guest
Thanks . Most software for scopes are PC compatible only from what I've seen. When I find one that has Mac software I'll purchase it, so if you can try this one you have, I'd greatly be helped and appreciate your advice. It does help psychologically. Being able to see these things with my own eyes really helped me - psycologically since it refutes any argument that it's all in your head, and physically since I could try different strategies and then look at my skin to see whether it was getting rid of them. The microscope I have only goes up to 200x, which allows me to see my mites as tiny black dots. Not enough to identify them, but enough to figure out their favorite locations on my skin. I just noticed that they have a newer model that claims up to 800x for $41. I'm considering getting this one since it might allow me to get a detailed enough image to use for identification. Guest guest
Hi Bill, I took a magnifying glass to my undies and saw the fungus and mold growing on it in little specks and that was after washing them 3 times and drying 3. I tried all kinds of cleaners to kill it and kept checking with the magnifying glass. Only the lysol complete worked. Here's something interesting. My sister just had 3 lesions appear. She thinks she may have the fungus too, but her doctor won't prescribe the meds as he disagrees. She bought some Tilex Mold and Mildew cleaner and dabbed some on the spots. They cleared up in 3 days. I am trying them on a few spots that are taking forever to heal and I seem to be getting great results. We'll see in about a week if they are gone. I'll report. Guest guest
Seriously, the whole mite/bug/collembola infestation was outrageous. It seems impossible that they're gone. I don't EVER want to go through that again. I'm still dealing with chronic Lyme in a very big way, but after going through what I did I know I can handle this. I came upon this group after they were gone, but I will share anything that I can with others that might help them get past it.One thing I'm not clear about is how people know they're birdmites. The name of the group could be deceiving. I saw collembola, but there could have been any number of mites, parasites, etc. Involved of which I will never know. I was lucky to find a doctor who knew about this stuff and treated me full force at day 1 when I saw him- Dr. Schaller in Naples, Fl. He's VERY expensive but after a few months with him I found another doctor closer to me who continued treating me effectively. One thing I never mentioned- the fuzzballs/ lint cocoons some of us get on clothes and fabric- if you tap them they will jump and slide, I think it was the collembola(springtails) inside them. Anyone ever noticed this?Aandraya On Sep 26, 2011, at 6:46 PM, Goldstein@... wrote: Ditto... yup, she is.From: " Benton" <sarahbenton48@...>bird mites Sent: Monday, September 26, 2011 3:01:42 PMSubject: Re: Re: it's been a terrible few days Aandraya, You are a wealth of information! >Have you tried dusting the floor with dry arm and hammer detergent? Guest guest
Aandraya,I felt for you when you said you thought you may have given your boyfriend Bartonella and maybe Lyme. I have to remember that Bartonella seems to be ubiquitous - it seems to be everywhere--like 70% of cats have it. Maybe you did not pass it along to him, but you know, I hope you don't feel guilt about it because how would you have known? We are all doing the best we can under the most trying of situations. None of us have all the information about these illnesses and we are trying hard to educate ourselves... part of why this board exists. If he gets on some meds quickly he may be able to get over it quickly. I was not sure if Bartonella could be transmitted through human contact. I thought it had to be through a bug of some sort. Again, I could be mistaken. He has you and you have an abundant amount of information and experience, so he will be helped greatly if he does have Lyme and/or Bart.I've been sick as a dog since starting the meds again. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't treat. But at least there is hope in getting much better if we go through the discomfort now of doing the meds. I look at my husband and we are aging... this illness and the mites really added years to our physical bodies. One never knows about the future and sometimes it feels like we are free falling... a sensation I dislike. We can only do the best we can do and take it one day at a time. I really do understand all of your sentiments about this. From: "Aandraya" <aandraya@...>bird mites Sent: Sunday, September 25, 2011 1:20:48 PMSubject: Re: Re: it's been a terrible few days -I am not able to work. If your husband was sufficiently treated for Lyme and has no symptoms I don't think he needs to be on abx, but if he still has some symptoms he should treat it before it gets out of hand. He should get the CD57 test from LabCorp, if it's over 100 and he has no symptoms he could be okay. Also, the Igenix western blot to see if he's Igm negative. Could you reinfect him? I don't know. Guest guest
I wanted to add that my husband got one of those strange bites a week ago, about a week after I got a bite. It looks just like mine. I sent pictures of the bite to my LLMD who felt it was a spider bite. We've had problems with spiders since the whole mite infestation, but most are kept out of the house because we sealed off all cracks and put DE on our decks downstairs. I still wonder what those spiders are transmitting. When our mite infestation happened we also had an infestation of spiders at the same time. They were very tiny and in the hundreds. It is unknown as to whether or not spiders can carry mites... they may be able to. Or they might be able to carry infections too.I hope the herxing passes. Guest guest
Oh the herxes do pass! Sometimes it takes quite a while. And spiders absolutely do carry most of the same infections that ticks do plus some others. The antibiotic treatment does pay off, my doctor has treated thousands and people do recover, with chronic Lyme and cos. it's 3-5 years. , you should join the WI Lyme group, many are not from WI(I'm not) and you would get a lot out of it and also could contribute a lot as you do so much on this group. I really get a lot from your posts. Mike, the moderator, is outstanding, no wonder it's the most active group of all 50 states. Most on that group have Bartonella and Babesia, I haven't encountered anyone yet with the mites but I've told them my horror story. Many do have the crawling sensations, intense itching, and skin lesions. Even if you don't want to post you'd get tons of info from people treating with all different modalities.Aandraya On Sep 26, 2011, at 7:55 PM, Goldstein@... wrote: I wanted to add that my husband got one of those strange bites a week ago, about a week after I got a bite. Guest guest
I really appreciate your words, . He is taking it really well. I started seeing him a couple yrs ago when I was becoming symptomatic so he's never even known me in a healthy state. I believe since he hasn't had it for so long- like his whole life, abx should knock it down fairly easily. I'll keep you updated. At least he never had the mites and that whole fiasco. On Sep 26, 2011, at 7:50 PM, Goldstein@... wrote: Aandraya,I felt for you when you said you thought you may have given your boyfriend Bartonella and maybe Lyme. My doctor says if he has Bart he also has Lyme, they go together. I feel horrible. I'm devastated that my boyfriend has this!I am no longer living in the hell of the insects and mold issues in my environment, but I'm still dealing with Lyme and coinfections, there are just no shortcuts to treat this. Guest guest
Not much out there on the Featherwinged beetle Marilyn. I know it is the smallest beetle known to man and from the tropics. It can be found cohabiting with termites. Very little is known about it as it has never been a point of interest to anyone.
