Guest guest
I definitely know what you mean! If I had a nickel for every time some dimwit asked me " what's wrong with your feet? " , I would be a very wealthy person. What really seems odd to me is that it is never OK to ask someone " Why are you so fat? " or " You don't seem very bright, are you mentally slow? " , etc. But so many people think it's perfectly fine to point out physical issues such as abnormal feet or gait and inquire about them. For me, the questions have always been " why do you walk funny? " or " what's wrong with your feet. " Honestly, my response to this type of question varies depending on my mood. I look at it like that person has already crossed the boundary, so they are entitled to get an equally insulting response. But most of the time my response is " Why do you want to know? " or " That's none of your business. " Of course I only give the sharp comments when someone is asking with a bad motive (it's pretty easy to tell!). Luckily I don't hear these comments as much anymore since I no longer deal with the public every day. Rob
Guest guest
Yes, I have often wished to be out of the public eye too but then I have my good days and meet some incredible people. I just don't get it though....compassion and empathy is really lacking from today's society. It is really difficult to deal with and still catches me off guard when I'm asked. Maybe it's a topic for Oprah! :-)
Guest guest
ROB, MY RESPONSE TO THOSE WHO ASK " ARE YOU LIMPING " OR " DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR FOOT " IS SIMPLY.... IT IS AN INHERITED NEUROMUSCULAR PROBLEM. IF THEY CONTINUE TO BE INTERESTED, I TELL THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE. USUALLY HOWEVER THE ABOVE SEEMS TO BE ENOUGH FOR THEM. ANGELA P.
