I don't feel comfortable going to public beaches or pools either and am tired of the comments and the stares from people. In fact, at work last week some man came in and asked me " what's wrong with your foot? " . I could tell that he wasn't asking out of compassion or empathy but seemed rather to have an " Enquirer " type mentality where he wanted to know so he'd feel better about his own life. I get these questions a lot and have been asked everything from " what's wrong with your foot/leg/feet/arms/hands etc..? " , to " do you have anorexia " , to " why are your arms so skinny? " . Often I have neither the desire nor the time to explain CMT to everyone who asks me and it leaves me not really knowing how to respond to a question that is really no ones' business. What amazes me is the parents that ask these questions in front of their children reinforcing the idea that it's ok to draw attention to someone else's physical condition and make comments about it. Does anyone else out there deal with these issues on a regular basis? ~
