I can empathize about looking down as you walk. I do just that. I cannot

carry on even a conversation when walking because I concentrate on where my feet

are. One well meaning friend asked me if I had lost something -- on the ground.

Years ago, I had a tendon transplanted from my ring finger to my thumb. That

makes it a bit easier to hold onto small things. It was very hard to get

control of my thumb again, but in the long run, I think I like it for ME, I do

not

know whether it's for everyone.
