Heroes Project is a three year national initiative launched in July 2004, by Gere and Parmeshwar Godrej to work with media organizations and other societal leaders in India. It seeks to develop coordinated campaigns to address the spread of HIV/AIDS and reduce stigma and discrimination by educating the public and advocating for change in policies. Position Title: Communications Director Status: Full time Location: Mumbai, India Position Summary: The Communications Director will be responsible for press relations and other communication activities for the Heroes Project. The Communications Director will report to the Program Director. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Communicate with national, international, regional and trade media covering HIV / AIDS and entertainment. Respond to media inquiries about the Heroes Project and promote Heroes Project activities. When appropriate, act as Project Spokesperson. Develop and execute strategic plans for raising awareness of the issue and project among major media. Draft press releases and other media materials for use in announcements of the Project’s activities. Develop, coordinate and execute press conferences and briefings. Specific Types of Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required: Strong background in media relations. Experience working with health and entertainment reporters. A substantive knowledge of HIV / AIDS and sexual health issues. Strong communications, writing and editing skills. The ability to handle a high volume of work and function in a fast –paced environment. Five years prior experience working on communications for an NGO. Position Title: Media Director Status: Full time Location: Mumbai, India Position Summary: The Media Director will be responsible for handling a set of Media Partnerships. The Media Director will serve as the key liaison for the campaign partners. He / she will report to the Program Director. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Manage the day to day relationship and campaign for each Media partner. Advise on development of PSA’s and entertainment programming for both television and radio including long form and original programming. Monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the campaign. Specific Types of Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required: Five years prior experience working in the field of advertising, content or communications. A strong knowledge of HIV / AIDS and sexual health issues. Fluent in English written and spoken and at least one South Indian language - preferably Tamil. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Position Title: Media Coordinator Status: Full-time Location: Mumbai, India Position Summary: The Media Coordinator will implement programmatic activities for the Heroes Project Media Campaign. The Media Coordinator will report directly to the Media Director. His / her duties will be to support the work of the Media Director on various campaign activities. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in the development and management of an HIV / AIDS public education media campaign. Assist in the development and production of television, radio and outdoor public service messages and entertainment programming – from message development to production. Assist in the development of content for fulfillment resources to accompany the campaign, such as a campaign website and informed guidebook. Additional responsibilities will include monitoring and tracking of the campaign website and informational guidebook. Additional responsibilities will include monitoring and tracking of the campaign as well as providing administrative support. Specific Types of Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required: Prior experience in developing media-based public health education campaigns, or similar advertising campaigns. Prior experience working with an advertising or media firm for at least two years. Knowledge of HIV / AIDS and sexual health issues will be preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills. Position: Executive Assistant to Project Director Status : Full Time Location: Mumbai, India Position Summary : The Executive Assistant will support the work of the Project Director on various activities. He /she will execute key correspondence for the Heroes Project on behalf of the Project Director. The Executive Assistant will report directly to the Project Director. His / her duties will be to Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in writing of all key communication on behalf of the Project Director. Assist in setting up of all meetings with Senior Media People, Government Officials. Follow up on jobs on behalf of the Project Director in his absence. Specific Types of Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required: Prior experience being an assistant to a Senior Person. Extensive experience in handling communications and correspondence.
