Guest guest
, Hi. Usually Gastric Bypass is only recommended for people who are morbidly obese... you are not in that category at 50 pounds overweight. In your doc's defense, it is being recognized that often the risk of being obese is greater than the risk of the surgery for it. However, that was very inappropriate that he discussed this with your husband, and not you. Again, I don't believe you are a candidate for Gastric Bypass, and any doctors telling you that are most likely not following the recommended protocol for the use of bariactric surgery. I'm a registered dietitian who specializes in obesity, and several of my clients are disabled. Maintaining weight loss is nearly impossible without increased activity. Maybe that could be your Holy Grail.... finding exercise you can do with your limitations. This is not easy, but it is possible. That is one way your doctor could help..... to refer you to a physical therapist for exercise options. Certainly he would do that before putting you 'under the knife' again. Good luck to you, Danita
