My Ortho doctor is recommending I have surgery.

He says there will be a six month recovery period

and it will be up to a year before I am totally

back to normal. He said I would require a

procedure, a dorsiflexion first metatarsal

osteotoomy, peroneus longus to brevis transfer,

plantar fascial release and a Dwyer calcaneal

osteotomy with or without an Achilles tendon

lengthening. Of course I have no idea what some

of this means but I know it is very extensive

surgery and I am not sure if I want to got

through with it.

In the early 1970's my father had foot surgery in

a VA hospital - he developed gangrene and lost

his right leg so I am hesitant to have any sort

of surgery. I was wondering if I could get some

feedback from people that have had surgery and

how it went for them. Thanks for your help.
