Guest guest
Connie and Diane- I had carpal tunnel surgery last October. In fact, getting that diagnosed was what led to my CMT diagnosis (the EMG tests, the DNA test the neurological exams, etc.) Of course, it took longer to heal and was a little more complicated but the result of the surgery is that I have regained a lot of use of my hand and there is a whole lot less pain. It did not help with the loss of muscle and strength of course. I still have some numbness but not nearly as much in the fingertips and as I said the terrible constant pain is gone. I am not saying that everyone should have the surgery-by all means exhaust all other options first. (For a while getting the steroid injections helped me). Just do not totally discount the idea. It can be helpful. Best of luck! And let us know what happens! Deb
