Connie and Diane-

I had carpal tunnel surgery last October. In fact, getting that

diagnosed was what led to my CMT diagnosis (the EMG tests, the DNA

test the neurological exams, etc.) Of course, it took longer to heal

and was a little more complicated but the result of the surgery is

that I have regained a lot of use of my hand and there is a whole lot

less pain. It did not help with the loss of muscle and strength of

course. I still have some numbness but not nearly as much in the

fingertips and as I said the terrible constant pain is gone. I am

not saying that everyone should have the surgery-by all means exhaust

all other options first. (For a while getting the steroid injections

helped me). Just do not totally discount the idea. It can be

helpful. Best of luck! And let us know what happens!
