Guest guest
Hello everyone, I don't post too often, being that it is difficult typing too much, but I wanted to tell Tom that I had severe tremors when I was younger. At the age of thirty my neurologist suggested a drug called propranolol...it is the generic form of Inderol. Though it is used for high blood pressure, migraines, among other things, it is also prescribed for essential tremoring. I have been using propranolol for nine years and it works great! It has minor side affects for certain people...luckily I am not one of them. From what my doctor told me, it will not cause damage to any body organs...I began in small doses and gradually went up to 400 mg. per day. I had head tremors in addition to my hand tremors...now I have virtually no tremoring. It is worth a try for you, so I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it. I hope this helps you. Guest guest
Tom, I am now taking a drug called InnoPran 80XL. It is a beta-blocker. I took Inderal 60XL (also a beta-blocker) for 7 years until my insurance company decided it wasn't a " covered " drug anymore. I was upset to say the least, because Inderal had worked fairly well in controlling my tremor. But, InnoPran has been just great, and actually works much better for me. I've been on it for 3 months. It takes care of my tremor and I've experienced no side effects. The thing that's different about this drug is that you take it before you go to bed at night. My understanding is that it reaches full potency at 12-14 hours after you take it. I read up on Diamox, and you're right - kidney stones can be a rare side effect. Other side effects are tingling and numbness in the fingers, face, and feet. With having CMT already, I think that side effect would not be a good thing. I know it must be hard for you to give up a drug that's worked well for you and InnoPran may not be right for you, but I wanted to share my positive experience with you. I have had tremors in my hands since I was in high school, but never sought treatment until I was in my late 30's. I'm now 46. Below is a link with information about InnoPran. Good luck, K. http://www.reliantrx.com/health/pdfs/InnoPI_web.pdf
