Guest guest
Shamelessly stolen off another list. But, worth its weight in gold to me. Thought I would share. Jazz (who has been seriously sick again and apologizes for not doing anything the past week) -------Original Message------- From: Jim & Some of you mentioned a fruit fly problem, so I thought I'd share how to make this simple trap. Works pretty well! I started mine 2 days ago and there are at least 100 flies in there...Pour a little kefir in the bottom of a glass or jar. Make a simple funnel out of paper and tape it together. Leave just a small hole in the bottom. Make sure that when you place the funnel snugly in your glass it doesn't touch all the way down to the kefir. Tape the funnel onto the glass, making sure there are no gaps between. The fruit flies will gradually begin descending the funnel to get to the kefir but then they climb up onto the glass and don't figure out how to get back out that little funnel hole! You can also use cider vinegar or a few ripe concord grapes, or basically anything that attracts fruit flies. They're going after the kefir more than anything, though! The trick is to keep the area free of other attractions as much as you can.Hope it helps someone. M. ..
