Hi Ellen,

I too have the same questions! The first neurosurgeon I took my

daughter to cited that same study. I have searched all over the

internet and I can't find it anywhere! I was so taken aback by this

doctors comments about my daughter (it'll round out on it's own, her

head is perfect, how many bald men do you see, whos heads aren't

symmetrical? and so on) that I didn't even think to ask him. I really

wish now that I had. If you ever find it,please post it. I'd really

like to read it!

Thanks,

We didn't have a headsicle made so I can't help on this one. However, I would

be tempted to take something like that to my ped if he had been unsupportive.

(He actually was very helpful AFTER we pushed him to give us a referral)

Does anyone know of any scientific studies proving that banding is highly

effective? Maybe the folks at Cranial Tech. can tell me if they have

participated or initiated any studies, particularly follow-up studies on

their patients?

I would definitely look to CT for something like that. Tim Littlefield has

referred to a number of articles through our group that would probably fit

the bill. Have you checked out our bookmark section? I know it has links to

some studies. You might also check out www.plagiocephaly.org for something

like that. Also, check out cranial tech's webpage.

Other than those with craniosynostosis and mild cases, who is NOT a

candidate for banding, or in other words what plagio. conditions can't be

improved by banding?

>>

Good question - I'm not really sure about this one. I'll be interested to see

what some of the others have to say about his.

& Ellen:

I think I have a copy of the article you are talking

about. It has been photocopied a million times and is

almost impossible to read. I will try to dig it out

this weekend and let you know the name and author.

From now on, I don't go to a dr

without a copy to present to them and web info for them to research.

If they don't seem interested.....then I'm not interested in letting

them even look at me.

A few years ago my doctor had another doctor working with him. I thought I'd

give the new doctor a chance. Until he told me CMT was sexually

transmitted!!!! I wish then I could take antibotics, LOL

Sorry the nurse in me got a kick out of your response . Technically,

it is not transmitted " sexually " unless there is some form of osmosis I'm not

aware of! LOL

He may have been talking about Sexual Maturation (NOTE from the LIST Moderator:

The World Book Dictionary, maturation mean " the process of growing or

developing. It also has to do with Biology, the development of germ cells " ).

YAY! Now how do we convince the doctors to take this course?

I've been too busy dealing with life, moving, etc, so I haven't chimed in but

have learned so much from " lurking " . I'm 75, and in response to the postings

about aging gracefully, my experience about aging is - Sometimes it rocks and

sometimes it's rocky.

I've been staggering & falling more & more, so today I had my first appointment

to be fitted for AFOs. I'm so excited, I'll be able to walk with less fear

(altho I sure find a lot of lucky pennies from keeping my eyes on the ground for

obstacles). I always wear pants, but when I get my AFOs I want to start wearing

skirts so I can show them off.

Stay cool,

Ruth in Northern California

I think this fall their will be a new on-line and video course from Los Angeles

that ANY doctor can take for 'continuning medical education credit' on CMT. More

about this when I get the details.
