My reply: " Yes, she would be dead by now if it was that high in the blood. Fortunately, it is not in the blood, it has moved into the tissues and organs. Unfortunately, that means she is autistic and her body has major problems functioning. Altho autistic is better than dead, it is still not acceptable to us. Thank you for your concern. Do I have this basically right. It sounds basically right to me. Good luck. Dana
Guest guest
Hi all, I have been to so many doctors about my CMT that I lost count a long time ago. I have always felt that most doctors are fairly complacent. Most doctors just tell me something to try to appease me, but never seem to really attempt to resolve anything. When I talk to my primary care physician about CMT, he seems to just think I have become more depressed and wants to increase my daily Zoloft. The main reason he seems to think this is because of my fatigue, he wants to contribute that to depression. While I think it is mostly CMT. Where I live, I am familiar with quite a few doctors who seem to be more interested in medicine as a business instead of actually helping people's health. I don't remember things being like this when I was a kid. But, in the last few years, I have seen so many doctor's offices where it seems like the doctor is in a race to see how many patients he can see in one day (how much money he can make). Anyway...Last week I went to see the neurologist at the local MDA Clinic. I was VERY impressed, he actually discussed all aspects of the disease with me, answered my questions, discussed possibly options and elaborated on medical info I have previously read. So, this is just a reminder to everyone: If you keep looking you will find a Doctor who will be helpful! You don't have to accept half-baked answers from a physician you don't trust. If more people like us quit demand better health care and stop going to doctors that don't really want to help, then we CAN raise the standards and not just pad the pockets of the local doctors. Thanks!
