Guest guest
I will be getting some grains from a friend soon. Although I already make raw goat milk kefir, yogart and Kombucha, I remain a bit confused about water kefir grains. Mainer, would you be willing to post some of your directions/recipes for the aforementioned flavors. Thank you! They are growing like crazy. If anyone is interested in healthy grains send me a private email. I have made grape water kefir, gingerale water kefir, lemonade water kefir, molasses and raisin water kefir, apple cider water kefir, and so on. All very delicious. Thanks Mainer2008
Guest guest
I just got my first batch of water kefir grains and am re-hydrating them. I too have been making milk kefir for quite a while. I don't know if you ever check it out; but, Dom's kefir insite (http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html) site has a lot of good recipes and instructions for both types of kefir. Dom is like the be all end all of kefir knowledge:) Mostly with the water kefir you will be adding sugar to the water to feed the grains and from there you can decide on various recipes as to what to add regarding fruit and such. Good luck and happy fermenting! - --- Bognar <eyedocallie@...> wrote: > I will be getting some grains from a friend soon. > Although I already make raw goat milk kefir, yogart > and Kombucha, Iremain a bit confused about water > kefir grains. Mainer, would you be willing to post > some ofyour directions/recipes for the > aforementionedflavors. Thank you! > > >

Guest guest
I am happy to post my recipes I have been alternating between two recipes. One involves lemon, the other does not. Unlike some folks who have posted I have noticed my grains go " lava lamp " when I add lemon, didn't notice that before. They also appear to be fuller. I use blackstrap molasses because this has shown to really get them growing, much like sucanant. Recipe#1 1/2 organic lemon 1 organice unsulphured dried fig 1/3 cup organic unrefined sugar 1 Teaspoon organic unrefined unsulphured blackstrap molasses 1 Qt Poland Maine Spring Water (of course I am a Mainah) 4 Tbs grains Recipe#2 1 organic unsulphured dried fig 1/3 cup organic unrefined sugar 1 Teaspoon organic unrefined unsulphured blackstrap molasses 1 Qt Poland Maine Spring Water (of course I am a Mainah) 4 Tbs grains These are rotated for the most part and occasionally I throw in another recipe. I am then performing secondary fermentations with grape, apple, ginger, etc. I like the blackstrap kefir as a base. I don't like the lemon blackstrap as much but do it for grain growth. If I want a lemonade I simply eliminate the blackstrap for a batch or two. I agree, Dom appears to have a wealth of information and my recipes are a derivative of his. Marilyn has also provided a wealth of information and I am especially thankful for her help and this forum. I would be curious if Marilyn would share her " super growth " recipe with us.
