I have found that lemon makes them deteriorate...I drink about a pint per day "

That is a lot to drink. We have just enough here so its is

definitely in our physical system - but you don't need to drink a lot to get

that effect. We only have about half an inch to one inch in a tumbler, on top of

mineral water - once a day.

The Russians and various Slavs here, never use a citrus juice

with their Kefir cultures. Mango nectar seems to be fine - I'm not sure if you

have mango in the States, for it may be native to Oz. Its tropical - a bit hard

to eat cos it gets stuck in your teeth so much but it makes a divine nectar.

Pomegranate juice is great also because pommie has many desirable properties - I

know you have pommies Stateside, cos we get your concentrates here for our

Bickford's Pommie juice.

yours, Lizzie in Australia.

Lizzie (and others),

But it wouldn't hurt to drink a pint (or more) a day, would it?? That's about

what I drink. Maybe 2 small glasses a day. I don't have it very sweet though.

I try to catch it after the sweetness is gone and before it starts to go

alcoholic (I had a cranberry water kefir batch taste just like a light wine last

week - didn't give that one to the children!).
