Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I have always just strained through a slotted spoon into a 2 quart container that sits in the fridge and holds only kefir. The only thing I have to wash is the slotted spoon which usually only gets a good rinse under really hot water. My fermentation jar doesnt even get washed a lot " I make my kefir at room temperature. To get my kefir cultures out of their storage house, I put the lot onto a plastic sieve - take the cultures out of the sieve and put the storage liquid back into the house. These days I keep the storage house on the kitchen bench, cos there is not enough room in the fridge. When the kefir is cultured, I put the lot into the same plastic sieve and let it drain for a few mins. Then I take the cultures out with a plastic spoon and put them back into their storage house. yours, Lizzie in Australia
