ankle fusions

Hi everyone, I haven't been able to post for awhile because my e-mail

was messed up, but I have been continually reading all of the post.

It amazes me how much we can learn by sharing our experiences. Right

now I could really use some advice if anyone is inclined to share

theirs. I had an ankle fusion 15 months ago, and it failed. I had a

fall that tore up all the ligaments and tendons and the fusion was

the only hope the doctors could offer. After 6 months, it was time

to face the fact that it had only healed 25% and other action needed

to be taken. The dr wanted to go in, clean up the mess and try

again. I opted to just get braces and try to deal with it as it

was. At first that seemed to be working out ok. But in the last six

months I have started leaning to the outside of the fused ankle which

is causing my braces to create pressure sores. I went to a wound

center in Little Rock today and that doctor doesn't hold out much

hope that he can help me. At one point in the discussion he went as

far as to suggest that I may end up having the leg amputated.

Needless to say, I have been a basket case all afternoon. So, my

questions to you are 1. Has anyone out there had a successful ankle

fusion preformed in the Arkansas/Missouri area? and 2. would you be

willing to share this information.? I think I am willing to try it

again, just not with the drs. who did the first one. Thank you so

much to anyone who can help me.
