Guest guest
Gretchen: Thank you for the concern, I am trying to put a good face and positive attitude on all of this. It helps to get support from people who know first hand how frustrating it can be to deal with drs and their lack of knowledge about CMT. Last nite I came to this site and printed off the fact sheet. From now on, I don't go to a dr without a copy to present to them and web info for them to research. If they don't seem interested.....then I'm not interested in letting them even look at me. First I was hurt and scared, now I'm angry! Angry is always a more productive emotion for me. I spoke with my mom in St. Louis last nite and she has called my relatives in the area and got info on drs to see up there. She said I could stay with her and we would get this taken care of together. So, I will be making arrangements with my insurance co today and work to take a leave. I will try to post occassionally to give you an update. To answer your ? about the fit of my AFO's. I've had them adjusted once but it didn't help much. I have the Townsend in shoe hinged type. This may not be the best type of support for me and that will also have to be addressed after I get the pressure sores to heal. Right now I have put myself back in a walking boot and the wheelchair in order to relieve the impact on the pressure site. Again, thank you for your support.
