Guest guest
But foot surgery help with the lack of feeling in your feet? I find this the one thing at my point in CMT right now, that I really hate. My feet stay so cold. Would any kind of foot surgery help with this? Guest guest
Patty, My 14 yr son has CMT diagnosed 3 yrs ago. At our last neurologist appt. we where told to see the surgeon now vs later as his heel cords and foot drop have gotton so much worse in the last 6 months. How do you make a decision like surgery when you cannot find any information about the pros/cons of having surgery.......any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Guest guest
Hi there,,, My daughter who is now 24, when she was 17 was diagnosed with CMT from Me I presume. I have never been tested but certainly have all the syptoms that we got from my mother. Anyway, three different Orthopedic surgeons said do not have her feet operated on unless there is severe pain. My daughter has no pain, just CMT looking feet. They said do not do it for cosmetic purposes because the surgery involved is quite extensive and no guarantee. So she has not had surgery and lives with her CMT feet, just like alot of us do in the family. She is getting married in May.. So there are difinitely pros and cons to surgery, so get a few M.D. opinions before going on.. Good luck... It is not an easy decision... Elaine.
