Guest guest
Has anyone used a Nylon Pouch for the milk Kefir Grains? I saw one on EBay. It says to put Milk Kefir Grains in the Nylon Pouch then put pouch in your milk to ferment. It saves the step of straining the Grains after they ferment. It seems simpler that straining the grains. Thanks amyjo
Guest guest
The Nylon pouch seems like a good idea. Except that it makes it harder to see what's going on with your grains and will be rather messy when you choose to take some out or wish to break up some of the bigger pieces. I have always just strained through a slotted spoon into a 2 quart container that sits in the fridge and holds only kefir. The only thing I have to wash is the slotted spoon which usually only gets a good rinse under really hot water. My fermentation jar doesnt even get washed a lot. .....sharon
Guest guest
You are asking for trouble using a pouch for milk kefir grains. They will get coated with old kefir. You don't want that. I just started using a dollar store strainer. The one where you get 4 in a pack of various sizes. It is perfect. The kefir goes through and the grains stay in. It is a little too small for my operation but I still like it better than the colander where the kefir grains got stuck in the holes.
