HIV/AIDS Education Materials. Needs assessment

Introduction: We are students who will be traveling to Mumbai and Calcutta to

assist in development of education materials for health care providers and

clients form the asia pacific region on HIV/AIDS clinical issues (stages of

HIV,OIS), nutrition, HIV therapies including ARV therapy, adherence, etc. My

friend and I are trying to understand the needs of the health care providers and

the clients in Calcutta and Mumbai, respectively.

We would appreciate it if you can take a minute to answer the following

questions.

For the first question, we would appreciate any information from persons in the

field across theworld.

1. Are you aware of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment Education Materials that

have already been translated in Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Rajasthani, Marathi or

other Indian languages? If so, could you possibly send us the links to these

materials.

If you are only aware of hard copies, could you tell us the name of the

organization you obtained them from.

For the second set of questions, we are looking specifically for guidance and

advice from positive networks and positive individuals with regard to the

needs of positive individuals in Rajasthan and surrounding states.

We would appreciate it if you can meet with us in either Mumbai or Calcutta

during our stay. If you are willing, please do forward your contacts so that we

3. What is the literacy level of HIV positive patients you serve

4. What is the preferred mode of educating your clients on HIV disease

management, nutrition, and HIV treatment including ARV therapy, nutrition among

other issues?

5. What education methods do you use to educate patients with low literacy (or

no literacy) levels

6. Is there a place for development of videos for educating the patients on

these issues?

7. What kind of education materials do you need for various health care

providers (other than doctors) in your country on HIV/AIDS clinical issues

(stages of HIV, OIs), nutrition, HIV therapies including ARV therapy, adherence,

etc.
