Guest guest Posted July 29, 2008 Report Share Posted July 29, 2008 Hello I am Maggie, I am new to Kefir. I have the water grains. Do I understand right that it is good to stir the making kefir? Does this make more sides available to the sugar or? I am also confused about the lemon. Some say to use it while making some say add it after. I am on my fourth batch and was told to let the water grains make for two days which I was doing. I felt my grains were getting smaller so last night I just did 24 hours then drained rinsed and started a new batch leaving the last batch to sit over night to get stronger. Seemed to taste very well. I think my grains might be better/bigger tonight. Will know later when I drain them and do it again. The first two batches I added lemon as directed. This time no lemon. Oh and I did add about 2 teaspoons unsulferred molasses. I have been gently agitating them. Guess I was too into the kombucha making where you try hard not to disturb them.
