Guest guest
Tyler, Reema, and others: My pre-teen and middle school years were hard - it seems like once I had the muscle biopsy, all I lived for was summer camp and horses. But that kept me going. At 15, I started to learn to drive. Changed my attitude completely, because I felt I was becoming an adult. Once I turned 16, got my license and also got my first job. I felt on top of the world! I was going to a new high school then, which I loved and had lots of friends. Started dating then, went to all our school dances and other events. At 17, as a senior, things got better, I was almost finished with school requirements and could work more hours. A steady beau and more parties and dances and neat stuff kept me busy. I was also doing volunteer work then too. Exempt from PE, I got a jump on homework in study halls or the library. While my grades weren't A's, the work I did was good enough to allow me to enter college as a sophomore. I talked to my neurologist about CMT and asked for what I thought I needed, together with my parents. Potassium and Ritalin gave me alot of good high school years. I never once thought CMT sucked or that I couldn't do things...I just kept going with a good attitude and being positive. If I can find out where my book is, I'll let you know - I'd be happy to send it to you if you want - no charge...it will be electronic. Give me a few days to get caught up on things and go through it. Hang in there! Life is beautiful~ Gretchen
