Guest guest
Re: Implementing Female controlled prevention methods Dear Rahel and the FORUM, From the Melbourne and Barcelona Conferences, I brought samples of female condoms, conducted a session each time with women health workers from Government and NGO personnel working in the slums of Mumbai. But this time in Bangkok, I did ask around specifically for female condom counters but could not find any. Our organization, the national addiction research center, got involved in a research project on women who work as maids in beer bars (they are supposed to be 160,000 in number) on their vulnerability to RTIs/HIV. We made a short film too on the subject (18 mns). Almost every woman I have talked to on the subject welcomed female condoms. But I am told, it is too expensive and is not produced on a mass scale. I would appreciate receiving communication and literature on the subject since someone in the Conference at Bangkok said that recent studies indicate they are not useful in preventing infections. I wish to thank this FORUM for connecting me to you and others like you on and off. BRITTO, Director: NARC E-mail:brito@...
Guest guest
Dear BRITTO and the FORUM, The Thai Women & HIV/AIDS Task Force had organized a small but friendly session on female condom at the Women’s Networking Bar, Global Village during the BKK World AIDS Conference. Maybe because of the fact that the Global Village was situated a little too isolated from the actual conference, so community people were not well out reached and connected. The Thai Women & HIV/AIDS Task Force received quite a number of audiences both male and female. We thank you to Weisenfeld for putting aside time to share with our folks about the use of the female condoms and two huge big boxes of female condoms. Her contact details for your information.
