Guest guest
Gretchen, I have noticed within the past few days that I have also been feeling some of the hyperactivity you mentioned. When I am having extreme pain, I will take a few extra strangth tylenol, and this seems to add to the hyper-ness. Could it be that the acetaminophen and neurontin have some kind of adverse reaction to each other that causes the energy to present itself in more quantity for longer periods of time? Has this happened to anyone else who has or is taking neurontin?
Guest guest
, I am not sure what the ingredients are in the acetaminophen; somewhere in my mind I am thinking caffiene, but I may have that mixed up with aspirin. Why not call your pharmacist, explain you are taking N. and that you had also taken A. and felt a hyperactivity and wonder if she/he could check the ingredients in both to see if there is some sort of cross-mixing thing going on? Also, ask for the adverse effects of taking both together. In my experience I found that pharamacists are more up to date on their chemicals than doctors. Good luck and let me know what you discover. ~ Gretchen P.S. Seems like quite a few Ers in OK. I am thrilled to hear you may all get together...I should visit...OK in the spring was my favorite time of year... Good luck too on the gathering...oh, and , I've been to Enid and beyond - worked for OHSJ and that had me on the road 2/3 of the time. Guest guest
As a new person to the group...I have never heard of Neurontin and I was wondering if someone could explain what it is and what it is for exactly. Presently the only meds I take are Inderall LA 80mg for tremors as needed and Ativan 10mg for anxiety as needed. The electric jolt I get in my neck is not annoying enough at this point to medicate. When I was in my late teenage/early 20's I used to get sever leg cramps and was prescribed Quinine Sulfate which helped. Eventually the cramps stopped and Quinine was no longer available tdue to its bad side affects. My neurologist and I do not believe in over-medicating. Until the surgery on my right foot one month ago I took Advil as needed. I was advised to stop taking it due to the blood thinning characteristics while healing. Guest guest
, Neurontin, also known as Gabapentin, it an anti-epileptic medication that has recently been FDA approved to help neuropathic pain. When I took it, I took it " off label " before it had been approved. Some doctors have found it effective on pain to the degree that opiate medication is not necessary. Neurontin works well for some, like me, who are instant responders. Others it takes about 3 months to take effect, and others don't respond at all. We have a great deal of material on it in our archives too. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Good day all: It is amazing how we all react differently to medications, no matter what they are. I take 2000 mg. of Neurontin throughout the day, along with 50 mg. of Amitriptilyne at bedtime. This works for me to alleviate the pain in my hands, fingers, feet and toes. I started with 800 mg/day in Nov. of 2000, and have gradually increased my dosage to 2000 mg/day. What can I say...this works for me, without any side effects. Guest guest
: I couldn't take Neurontin either as the first time I took it (100mg only) I slept for three days. I called the MD and he explained that I had to get accustomed to it and I suggested that we find something else as I wasn't willing to " sleep my life away! " I also tried Topomax which on the lowest dosage gave me severe mood swings!! I appear to have a very sensitive system so I do natural things now when possible. Guest guest
Hi , Trust me I've started calling my doctor some very interesting names in the last 24 hours. I'm going to go to a gp tomorrow. See if I have any better luck with him. I'll go see my srink on the 22nd. I'm going to talk to her about using celexa for the depression and maybe some valim or xanax for the anger issues. I got really mad at my doctor and had to fit the impluse to swing at him. I swear I'm not normally violent, however the man if a complete jerk. I've been treated with both with sucess. I wish lithium wasn't on the drug list. I had great results with that too. Although I wasn't on it for more the 3 months. *sighs* I swear if I thoguht I could go to medical school, I would however I don't think I'd like poking at dead bodies for that's out. Well I better go I'M AT WORK. And my stock beckens me forth.
