Welcome to :

I'm glad to be a part of this group. I'm 31 and I have CMT type I, but

that's never been confirmed by DNA tests that are out now... I have the

high arches, high step, weak ankles, trip over my own feet, bad

balance, no reflexes and hammer toes thing in spades- but I have great

calve muscles and no hand involvement-except slow NCV. I can remember

when I was in 5th or 6th grade waiting for the school bus and someone

saying that my shoes were on the " wrong feet " but they were on MY feet-

that was the only problem. Years later I saw a Neurologist (at 15) and

at the time they didn't have DNA testing, so I had an MRI and painful

NCV & nerve biopsy just to get the medical equivalent of " eh, what are

you gonna do! " I spent a lot of wasted time depressed, in denial, etc.

Then even more time just dealing with it. Just last year I started

doing research and getting help. Now I use AFOs to help me

stand/walk/work longer without feeling worn out as fast, I go for

regular checkups at MDA clinics, I just recently went to a support

group for the first time and I try to keep up with what's happening

here too. As for Vitamin C, well that's probably an example of me just

doing what I thought was a good idea anyway. I don't take supplements

per se but I love juice and I'm practically addicted to smoothies (many

contain high doses of C).
