D.L.,

Ask your new doc to do the DNA blood test for CMT on you. (It is

painless) Friedrich's Ataxia now mimics CMT, so perhaps your new doc

would test you for that too. Have you been to a foot/ankle orthopedist

and an certified orthotist? You said your orthotics didn't help. How

much of a try did you give them? On the EMG, the results would be

definite indicators of CMT, depending what they are. Did you have the

blood test for Rheumatoid Arthritis? I don't understand why you needed a

3rd EMG.

As for shaking, in CMT, some people, like myself, have tremors. These

can be suppressed with medication. Ask your doctor.

Shaking is just one of those things I have learned to live with. I don't

waste it during the day it is a good time to dust my house. :-) At night I

breathe though the shakes of after shakes. Deep breathing is useful to me for

pain and my tremors.

le,

I have been thinking about your question all day and remembering when

I was overly tired at night with tremor surges, that it would take me

a long time to fall asleep. To occupy my mind into relaxation, I

would start counting backwards from 100 and take deep breaths. At

some point, I would relax and fall asleep, only to wake up

immediately and start the process again - then off to sleep for good.

Looking back on it I feel this was part of the " normal "

relaxation/sleep cycle for me - it's just that the tremors took

longer for me to manage - that was before medications and much more

relaxation/meditation. (then it took me 2 hours to fall asleep)

I don't feel anything was wrong, that is just how it was playing out

for me at night. If I had to go through that again, though, I

wouldn't and I'd be asking my doctor for help.

As for the stomach, can't offer much help with that.
