Guest guest Posted March 21, 2004 Report Share Posted March 21, 2004 Bangalore-based Dharani Trust, in collaboration with Swabhava Trust, is hosting the 2nd International Conference on Sexualities, Masculinities, and Cultures in South Asia. The theme of the conference is 'developing discourses and discourses of development'. It is a 3-day conference which proposes to bring together scholars, activists, artists and organizations, with presentations in English, Kannada and Hindi. Objectives include (i) to exchange recent developments and accomplishments in academic work on sexualities and masculinities including methodologies, theory and application/empirical study (ii) to share activist and NGO experiences, and interface among the academic, activist, NGO and student communities. (iii) to institutionalise outcomes of the conference to promote research, visibility and advocacy on key concerns and to celebrate resistances. Specific conference themes and registration guidelines may be viewed at http://www.dharanitrust.org . They have an April 1 deadline for submissions. Submissions can include abstracts and proposals for panels, workshops, and performance presentations. Non-traditional presentation formats such as plays, songs, poetry, dance, photography, video, are encouraged, as are relevant documentary or feature film submissions.
