Guest guest
Hello from Tasmania Australia. I just found and joined the chondromalacia club and am impressed. Have been considering surgery for sometime now - anyone done/heard of a 'partial lateral release'?

Guest guest
Dear Laiani,

You were clever enough to post a question on Knee Guru yourself. Looks like you got two good answers. That's about the limit of what I can think of to do.

Good luck,

Tom
Guest guest
Lailani-

This may sound dumb, but I will say it anyway. I think that a Partial lateral Release is another name for a Lateral Release, Let me tell you why...
When they perform a Lateral release they are cutting SOME not all of the tissue that connects the patella to the muscles of the upper leg. Depending on the severity of the dislocation, or maltracking will depend on how much cutting is done. I had a Lateral Release, my doc said that if the surgery ws unsucessful, then he could go back in and cut some more, to loosen up th tension some more. Did you ask your Doc what the difference is?? That may be a good step. Tell me how it goes, good luck and God Bless.
Jenna
