Guest guest
Hey , I had a lateral release in March but I didn't know he was going to do it until he got in there and saw how bad the kneecap was out of alignment. From what I understand, they cut a ligament or tendon that pulls the patella out of line. It was a pretty major surgery and it was swollen for about 2 months and it hurt a lot. I dont really know that mine helped but I dont think it hurt anything. The OS said he was just trying to put off a replacement as long as possible. Good luck with everything! Guest guest
In regards to the alteral release. I had one done on May 25th.. to this day I STILL have severe swelling, am in a brace that extends from the thigh to the middle of the shin, there are bars on the side which keep me from having lateral movement. This is done until I strenghthen the VMO muscle. I didnt know I was having the lateral release done until he was in there fixing a torn meniscus. I still have severe pain going up and down stairs. I went to therapy a couple of years ago to fix the chondromalacia, it didnt work. So after I tore the meniscus and was in surgery for that, the lateral release was done. I have had a good experience with an EMS machine. What it does is help tighten the muscles. These machine are available on the net for a little over $100. If you have went to therapy and ever had russian stem done, this is somewhat the same just a little cheaper route. The only difference is this has 4 electrodes compared to 2, and it does not go as deep.. let me know if you want the address on where to get it..

AJ

Are you still in therapy or did you have a lateral release? I had my lateral release, pretty much thinking that is was going to be a simple procedure, however, my pain level is beyond belief!!! Today is better with the bone pain, but stiffness has set in and I have been doing my exercises, I really wished that I would not of had this done
