Guest guest
I saw a post from a psychologist retiring early here and wanted to share my experience with jobs/careers issues. I am 50 and for the past 25 years have been an environmental engineer. I have always loved the work and have no intention of retirement and do not need to either. In my early days I was also a single/parent/father to two great sons, who are well on their way into their careers. I have CMT and one son has CMT. My parents were so overprotective, I heard alot of " you can't do that " or " that won't be good for your CMT " to the point of almost believing their myths. I backpacked around the world one year after high school to challenge myself and find out exactly what I could do. It was an enlightening year. I got out in the world and found out all of what I could do. The more I did, the more I learned and rose quickly in my field - with 3 degrees to back up the field knowledge. With my own son, I helped him to explore many opportunities and careers. I never played that myth to him of what he 'could do/couldn't do' - he found a path that was right for him and long story short, he has been practicing law now for 5 years - and he's da** good at it too.
