Guest guest
My son is 16 and underwent the tendon lengthening in both legs in December. It is the best thing we did for him. He had a home therapist come to the house once a week and he also maintained the exercises during the 8 weeks he was casted. His casts have been off since the end of Feb. and his physical therapy ended 2 weeks ago. He is doing great, but does have to keep us his exercises at home to maintain the looseness he now has. He has much better balance and now walks bending his knees-which he never could never do. Good luck in your chosen path-my son doesn't regret it for one minute though. God bless and take care, Tammy from PA
Guest guest
I was just wondering if anyone has a child that is under 10 that has this surgery? I was 7 in the early 70's when I had it done.
Guest guest
I had it done when I was about 13. I am 28 now. I had awful pain afterwards. They pumped me full of pethadine and I got sick too. The pain wasn't sharp, it was a kind of agonising throbing pain. I think I've heard since that CMT can stuff up your the brain's interpretation of pain. It gets dodgy signals, so it amplifies them or does what it can with them even though they are not clear. That would explain the unbearable feeling I had. Is this a myth, does anyone know? I'm just being a whiner really, since I was out of hospital and in no pain after a week. Steve
Guest guest
Steve you are not a whiner. The surgery hurts.
