Please note that the upper tolerable intake levels (UL) for Vitamin C for most humans is below 2000 mg daily. In other words, without more research, we would be wise to remain on doses less than 2000 mg daily. As you can see, this is still 26 times greater than the ACTUAL RDA, which is a range from 40 mg to 120 mg daily. Please note the symptoms of excessive intake of vitamin C. Food and Nutrition Information Center website: http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/etext/000105.html This definition of terms is taken from the page above. The DRIs are actually a set of four reference values: Estimated Average Requirements (EAR), Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), Adequate Intakes (AI), and Tolerable Upper Intake Levels, (UL) that have replaced the 1989 Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) Click on Dietary Reference Intakes for a pdf with all of the values for all vitamins, including Vitamin C.
