Guest guest
Dear Rob, I too thought of voice recognition software when I read your post so I sent a message to a friend, a lawyer who has had a neuromuscular disease (not CMT) since childhood. His response follows: " I use a software package called Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It is the best. It does both dictation and voice navigation. I highly recommend it to your friend who is having difficulty with his hands. I have written 80 page legal documents using Dragon. I have used it for the past seven or eight years. I am a master with it, putting my modesty aside. The newest version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking probably cost about $150. You could buy lower versions for much less. " I could put you in touch with him if you want more details. As a programmer yourself you may already have considered this, but I didn't want to leave any stone unturned. Adressing your post on another level, back in November I think you posted saying that you had been dealing with symptoms either of fatigue or depression. This latest news can't have helped the situation and I wanted to make sure that you're getting the emotional support you need to deal with it, either from friends or professionals. I'm relatively new to this group (I'll post an introduction soon, I promise) but the members seem like they'd love to support you in this. I can't address your question about the prognosis for your hands but I'd keep pressing for some reassurance from doctors or your own research on the form of CMT you have. Hope some part of this was helpful. Bob
