Barb,

How frustrating for you with your doc who doesn't wish to learn from

a patient. Afterall, that's where " medical school " REALLY begins.

There is a very simple and inexpensive blood test for Rhumatoid

Arthritis. Any lab can do it. I found out my results the next day. My

internist suggested this 3 summers ago (duh I was definitely

diagnosed with CMT as a kid and yet, doctors still want to run tests

- now I think I've hadd everything except CMT DNA.)

If your current doctor isn't working out, can you perhaps see if you

can move your neurologist appointment up closer to NOW. The CMT DNA

test is available, but 1 lab in the U.S. does it. Last time I checked

the site, the full CMT workup was about $4,000.

http://athenadiagnostics.com for more up to date info. The turn

around time on that test is abbout 28 days I think. Meanwhile, (and I

hate to mention the EMG/NCV test) but the EMG/NCV can determine

between Type 1 and 2 CMT.

I hope you can find a doctor who is willing to understand you and

open to CMT education - if not already.

~ Gretchen
