Guest guest
K, Can you tell me what were the earliest symptons that led to your degenerative hip diagnosis? Did it directly relate to osteoporosis or arthritis or some other condition? I am curious because I am waking with an aching in my hip after five to six hours sleep. I can sit up and read for a couple of hours, then lay down and be comfortable for another five to six hours. I have not yet addressed this to a doctor because I do not have one right now except for the MDA neurologist. A friend suggested glucosamine to me, but do not plan to self-medicate yet. I do have osteoporsis and take Fosamax for that. Thanks, Ruth -
Guest guest
Ruth, my diagnosis came from a full body bone scan ordered by my neurologist, just as a routine every other year test. It's kind of funny, but I didn't start noticing pain until a couple weeks after the results were in. I don't think it's in my head, although I kind of wondered that myself! I do definitely notice the difference if I skip a dose of Glucosamine. I notice the pain after sleeping for a few hours. From what I know of the supplement, it has no side effects and is very safe. I even give a form of it to my 18 1/2 year old calico cat and she is moving much more easily and appears to be in less pain than she was before I started giving it to her. I don't think it would hurt you to give it a try, and it's actually pretty inexpensive. I take 1000 mg. a day. Good luck managing your pain and discomfort. K.
