AIDS Protests at New york Republican Convention

Dear Forum,

A little more sensationalism to share with you.

yesterday my friends were arrested for protesting Bush's AIDS

policies (LIES) at the " Young Republicans " event. I wanted to share

with you some information on the way they have been treated. at the

bottom there is a link to nbc news coverage of my friend Kim Sue

getting kicked by a young republican in the back as she is being

dragged away by secret service. (talk about kicking someone while

they are down!) then there's a link to the NYT story, another pic

of kim.

This is just one more attempt to silence republican apathy and

contempt for the suffering of PLWHA worldwide.

Eleven of my friends from HealthGAP/ ACTUPNY went to the young

republicans event. they had legitimate passes. during a speech by i

think bush's press secretary, they took off their outer shirts

revealing the t's we've made that say stuff like " bush AIDS lies

kill " and " drop the debt stop AIDS " and a huge banner that says " W:

DROP THE DEBT STOP AIDS " (used this at thursday's nude protest as

well)

Well this time the arrests were pretty bad. all (and some

bystanders) were arrested. one republican got an elbow in his face

from the scuffle, so most of my friends got " assault, incite to

riot, etc " charges. misdemeanors and violations.

A secret service agent may have broken kim's arm. she is in jail

with 1,000 other protesters.

Mark is HIV positive. the police confiscated his medicines! he only

has enough for one more day.

Ok i have so much more to say, but i think the video clip will say

it better than i ever could.

I am so proud and so outraged... republicans make me THROW UP.
