Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have CMT and not sure what type. I wear AFOs. Without the AFO's, I find that I need to use my crutches to walk and I have constant pain from all my surgeries. Should I check into getting a wheelchair? Is there anywhere I can go to get one for free or very cheap? Thanks,
Guest guest
Jen, For wheelchairs, try the http://www.mdff.org/ (NOT the same as the MDA) Also try your local hospice " loan closet " or your local hospital loan program for wheelchairs. I got one for my mother through the " loan closet " when she was ill. But if you are considering a wheelchair as a permament lifestyle, you need to get one that " fits " you best - some are lower, some are higher, some are wider, some aren't, etc/ ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
, This past winter when I broke my foot I put an ad in the newspaper for a used wheelchair in good condition. I received a range of phone calls from people wanting to offer their unneeded wheelchairs. The ad ran me $7.00 and I had an extremely generous woman give me a very nice wheelchair that had been her mothers. ~
