Guest guest
Rob, Please address your Social Security Disability questions to your local Social Security office. In the Dallas-Fort Worth Area the main number is 1-800-772-1213. You will be able to enter your zip code to see which office is closer to where you live. The Social Security website address is: www.socialsecurity.gov. Blair
Guest guest
Rob, it will trigger an evaluation of your financial/work records; also SSDI is now matching records with the IRS, and this could possibly result in a determination that you are not disabled any longer because you exceeded 'their' (SS) limit. ~ G Rob wrote: > But what would happen if this continues and for example, > that person receives a $4,000 bonus during year 5? Guest guest
Hi , Very interesting question. While winning a lottery and a sweepstakes means taxes are paid to some degree, I don't know how this would affect disability, except the IRS and SS records wouldn't jive and SS would most likely like to know the source of income - if it came from work-related activities/or winnnings - all SS cares about is work-related income. But,this COULD affect SSI payments, though, since if someone wins a $30 million lottery, simply by assets alone, they would no longer qualify for SSI. But,really,I feel this type of question would best be directed to a CPA or other person who knows about accounting/tax law/ssdi. Like mentioned to Rob, call up your nearest SS office and ask about this too. I'd be interested in the outcome. Again, very interesting question. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Gretchen: In PA, we have advocacy groups that are specifically for issues pertaining to all Social Security. It depends on the area that you live in as to which group you would utilize. PA is not the only state that has this but I so not know what other states also have this type of program. If you are interested (or anyone else), I will contact our representative and see if I can get a list of the other states and the agencies to contact in PA. Sharon *** Sharon, thanks, yes I am aware of the advocacy groups, they are here too. Perhaps Rob might like to know if there is one in Texas. ~ G
Guest guest
Sue, Yep I understand what you are saying. I did not have to see their doctors either. Way more than enough information from all my doctors. And yes,.The Detroit office OK'd my disability claim. Then it was forwarded to Chicago, the district headquarters for final approval. It took 2 -4 weeks for that and then I received my letter of acceptance. In that letter was the amount I would collect each month and the date it went into effect and the approx. date that my check would be deposited to my bank account because I chose direct deposit. Hang in there, I know its like sitting on pins and needles at this point. Elaine in Michigan
Guest guest
Hi Sue, I had the same thing happen when I applied ten years ago. I did not have any problems receiving SSDI. Six months after I applied, I received the first check. I am sure everything will go smoothly for you also. Happy Trails Owen
