Guest guest
Hi Everyone, As some of you know, I went to a ladies conference this weekend. The speaker was a woman named " Liz Curtis Higgs " . She is a large size woman. She spoke about excepting ourselves the way that God made us. One of the things that was mentioned was -- what are we looking for when we look in the mirror? Often times we look at our problem areas. We tend to notice the things that drive us the most crazy about ourselves such as a big belly, thunder thighs, a big fat pimple on our face, etc. etc. etc. We need to remember that God made us in His image and we are beautiful or handsome. God loves us the way we are and we need to learn to love ourselves. Maybe your body isn't the way that you would like it to be yet, but surely there's something about you that you like. Tomorrow when you look in the mirror try and notice the things about yourself that you like. Maybe it's your muscular arms. This is one of the things that I like about me, I flex my arms and look at my muscles. :-) Maybe it's your tiny waist, a flatter stomach then you had a month ago, smaller saddlebags, your hair, or maybe it's just your smile. What ever it is, admire that. Don't dwell on the negatives. When we just notice the negative things about ourselves we have a tendency to get depressed, at least I do. I don't know about you, but if I'm depressed I eat more junk food. If we're down because of our bodies, eating more junk food isn't going to make our bodies look any better. Depression can really ruin your day. Sometimes when you get down it causes your family to get down also. How fun is that????? Can you imagine your whole family being depressed because of your big hips, or stomach, or ???? There's so much negativity in the world, let's focus on the positive things. You are beautiful, no matter what your size. We all are striving to get smaller bodies and that's great. Just realize if you're taking steps to get there by breathing, drinking your water, and eating better, you're doing the right things to obtain those desired figures, but while you're waiting, love the body that you're in now, God does. Guest guest
Hello Precious Liz, I somehow missed this. Wow! It is spectacular. For those who have not read it. I urge you take a moment and do so now. If you have, read it again. It is worth the time. It has many of the same concepts that I speak about in the Victory Theory. I have deep beliefs that if we would learn to love ourselves, not in spite of our flaws, but because of them, we would find success in every area of our lives. Our flaws are what make us unique, keep us grounded. I believe that often it is the negative beliefs that we have about ourselves that keep us from achieiving our goals. The first step in achieving any goal is accepting ourselves as we are. Learning to internalize self-love on the deepest level is vital to finding the one thing we are all searching for, happiness. Happiness seems like such a simple concept, yet it eludes so many of us. We do not reach out for what we want, often because we do not believe we deserve it. Learning to appreciate your legs because they get you where you want to go is a first step in having what you consider " attractive or pretty legs " Learning to look at your body and love it will help you to feel that your body is worth the effort it takes to keep healthy and fit. Silly as it may seem, look at yourself in the mirror and smile at yourself. Look at that beautiful person and appreciate all that you are. See the gentleness in your heart, the thoughtful caring person you are and appreciate that person. Smile like you are smiling at a your best friend. Learn to think of yourself as the most valuable person you have ever me. This is not about being self-centered, it is about being balanced and appreciative of the things you have and who you are. Liz, Thanks so much for taking the time to send this to me. Love, > > Rashelle >rashelle@... http://www.lifelift.com > > Hi Sweet Rashelle, Did you happen to read my post called " Mirror, Mirror On the Wall " ? I was wondering what you thought of it. I posted it while you were away. Here's a copy of it. Love, Liz > > Hi Everyone, > > > > As some of you know, I went to a ladies conference this weekend.
